Better When Wet: The Luxury Bathroom, Trends and
Strategies
Please join architect David Ruff as he shares a study of the
expanded role of the bathroom. No longer a mere utilitarian
space for hygiene, the 21st century bath has become a space
for meditation, social interaction as well as a host of spa
amenities. By reviewing imaginative examples we will examine
sustainable solutions, exotic materials and cutting edge
techniques. From the historically inspired to the hyper
sleek, the bathroom spa has become a client demand that
presents significant integration obstacles with both
technical and aesthetic ramifications. Through a discussion
of new product developments, installation methods and design
strategies we will reveal unique opportunities for designer
and architect. We will also propose workable strategies to
satisfy the expanded space demands of the spa bath while
meeting the requirements of governing agencies.
